Five Master Edits

- Leitmotif - These shots showcase a leitmotif. A leitmotif is a recurring idea or thing in media. Here, I have a person typing up an essay. Every time there is a cut to the watch, time has passed. This is a leitmotif because it happened more than once and it represents something other than itself. This scene was a little difficult to come up with because I had to figure out how to properly display a recurring theme that was easy enough to identify. It was a little hard to record the video of me typing because I had to decide if I wanted to try to type and hold the camera, but I couldn't multitask that well. This scene is a leitmotif because the clock video is shown twice and it represents time.
- Simultaneity - These shots showcases simultaneity. Simultaneity is two things happening at once at the same time. Here, I show the difference between normal class and virtual students "classroom". During 3rd period I recorded a pan shot of my classroom. Then, at home I recorded a shot of my bedroom. These shots were supposed to look like they were happening at the same thing. Perhaps I could've used a transition to show time passing. It was hard to stabilize the shot in both cases. This scene is simultaneity because lunch happens for all students at the same time, but they occur in difference locations, some at home some at school in the courtyard.
- Parallelism/Cross-Cutting - These shots showcase parallelism/cross-cutting. Parallelism/cross-cutting is the act of showing that two shots are somehow related. I got inspiration from the movie Inception. I recorded a shot of me sleeping then I put in a shot of a beach from YouTube. I zoomed into my head as if the camera was entering my brain. I probably could've added a transition to make it clearer.
- Contrast - These shots showcase contrast. Contrast edits in films show the differences between two or more shots. Here, I'm showing the difference between in-person lunch and virtual lunch. In-person lunch is very different then a virtual students lunch. Normal lunch has space out kids that are still able to speak to each other and socialize. Virtual students can't exactly do that. You have to wear a mask during normal lunch but you can do whatever you please at home.
- Symbolism - This shot showcases symbolism. Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas or people. Here, the orange pom represents excitement or a celebration. This is a close shot with my Dad accepting the teddy bear gift. This was hard because I had to hold both the bear and the pom in my left hand and the camera steady in my right hand. I wanted the pom originally to be thrown up behind my Dads head but I couldn't reach. My dad also didn't want to help me, so he wasn't as excited as he should've been accepting the bear.
